Just when one thinks the departing regime cannot sink to a new low, it continuously proves there is no bottom.
Fox News on Saturday dropped an infuriating story regarding FEMA’s evil treatment of Hurricane Helene survivors in Western North Carolina. The agency will end temporary housing for roughly 2,000 Tar Heel residents on Saturday, creating mass confusion amongst the local population regarding what they are supposed to do next.
The unforgiving conditions across the Appalachian Mountain region make these victims’ situation even more dire. Not only is a major snowstorm coming, but temperatures will drop below 20 degrees.
The agency did give the locals some slight ‘relief.’ While the temporary housing program was supposed to end on Friday, FEMA pushed the deadline back to today.
Ryan McClymonds, founder of the volunteer group Operation Boots on the Ground in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, spoke to Fox News on Friday about the harrowing circumstances the victims face.
“I’m actually talking to several people that are losing the FEMA vouchers,” he explained. “They’re terrified that they’re going to have nowhere to stay for their families after today. But we did find out last night pretty late that FEMA is extending it a whole whopping 24 hours.”
FEMA told Fox News that they are still providing hotel rooms via their Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) program in Western North Carolina to Helene survivors. However, they did not dispute that they were kicking some out in the cold.
Fox News notes that FEMA began informing families that were checked into hotel or motel rooms that they can no longer use the Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) program for one of three reasons: an inspection indicated their home is now inhabitable, they refused an inspection, or FEMA failed to contact them to update their housing needs.
FEMA will also close disaster recovery centers in the area until Monday, allegedly due to the weather. Meanwhile, some of the victims may freeze to death if they do not find shelter.
Unsurprisingly, power outages and water outages are a possibility due to the awful weather. This will add even more misery while FEMA is AWOL.
This sick act was not lost on Team Trump. Upon learning the news, Karoline Leavitt, Trump spokeswoman and incoming White House press secretary, issued a fiery response to Fox News.
“Biden and Mayorkas bankrupted FEMA to pay for illegal immigrant housing, and now American citizens who lost their homes in Hurricane Helene are essentially being told to screw,” Leavitt said. “This is unfair and arguably criminal.”
“The good news is: President Trump will be back very soon to put Americans first again.”
