President Trump on Thursday confirmed that he will attend Charlie Kirk’s funeral in Arizona next week and that he has spoken to Charlie’s wife, Erika, who he described as “absolutely devastated.”
Turning Point USA, which was founded and led by Kirk since 2012, is headquartered in Chandler, Arizona, and Kirk lived in Arizona with his wife and two very young children.
Trump fielded several questions about the death of the inspiration to millions of young conservatives and his friend, Charlie Kirk, upon exiting the Oval Office to board Marine One at the White House en route to the Yankees game in the Bronx, New York.
As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, Trump announced that he will award Charlie a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom, calling him “a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people.”

After condemning the radical left and calling for a peaceful response from supporters, Trump confirmed to reporters that he spoke with Erika Kirk on Thursday, and that “She’s absolutely devastated, as you can imagine.”

A reporter later asked if he plans to attend Charlie’s funeral. The President confirmed that he’s been asked to attend the funeral, saying he hears it’s next weekend, but “whenever it is, I’ll be there.”
“I think I have an obligation to go,” he said.
