The city council in Fort Myers, Florida recently held a meeting to discuss cooperating with ICE on illegal immigration, with specific regard to the community’s police force.
WINK News reported:
The agreement would grant Fort Myers police officers the authority to question individuals they suspect of being in the U.S. illegally and process them for immigration violations if arrested for a crime.
Officers would also be able to make arrests without a warrant if they believe someone is violating immigration laws and might escape before a warrant can be obtained.
The vote failed, by a 3-3 tie, but the people on the council who opposed working with ICE actually cried and held hands in the meeting.
America needs strong leaders right now. These are not strong people, this is pathetic. Watch:
Video of the Fort Myers City Council meeting where they did not approve their officers to have an agreement with ICE is even more insane because the members who voted against it started crying, holding hands:

Absolutely disgusting behavior for a city council. It only goes to show how useless these people are when they have to make hard decisions they start crying. How do these people run or manage a city with this behavior?

The Florida Phoenix reports that this issue is far from resolved:
Florida AG threatens Fort Myers city council with removal if they don’t cooperate with ICE
Attorney General James Uthmeier is threatening three Fort Myers city council members with removal from office after they refused Monday to deputize police officers to participate in immigration enforcement.
Uthmeier, who became the attorney general a month ago, warned the council that Gov. Ron DeSantis could remove them from office if they didn’t allow the city police to question people about their immigration status and detain those subject to deportation.
After hours of public testimony and debate, the city council of the Southwest Florida city voted a 3-3 deadlock Monday, stopping city police from entering into an agreement with the federal government to cooperate in immigration enforcement efforts…
“Failure to correct the Council’s actions will result in the enforcement of all applicable civil and criminal penalties, including but not limited to being held in contempt, declaratory or injunctive relief, and removal from office by the Governor,” Uthmeier wrote in the letter he sent to the council Tuesday.
This is not a council on a college campus, these people are in charge of a city. They ought to start acting like it.
